Letter to the Citizens

Welcome to the City of Buena Vista!
As you visit our website and learn of the many attributes of our Beautiful View city, we hope that it
creates a desire to visit our city in person. We will be honored to have you as a guest and hopefully
future resident. We especially want to salute and extend an invitation to our Fort Moore neighbors.
The City of Buena Vista is a small but vibrant community. Although we value the small rural community
vibe, we offer various sports and recreational activities, awesome cultural events and entertainment,
delicious dining opportunities, affordable housing and property to build that dream home, great school
system, and shopping and dining opportunities “On the Square” (our historic downtown area). This is
the perfect place to raise your family or enjoy the life of retirement.
The City of Buena Vista supports regional opportunities and promotes activities and tourist
opportunities found in the Region 8 community. We are proud to be the birthplace of the legendary
Baseball Hall of Fame Negro League baseball player, Josh Gibson. We are home to the Pasaquan, a
visionary art site under the stewardship of Columbus State University.
The City of Buena Vista staff, council members, and I are committed to providing the highest level of
service possible to our residents and visitors. We aim to create a family-like environment where we all
look out for and support each other. We are eager to roll out the welcome mat to visitors and extend
the invitation to be a part of the Buena Vista family.
We are a vision-focused community and always seek opportunities to improve our city. We have
recently worked to improve our water and sewage infrastructure. We are currently looking to build a
new city park and revitalize our downtown “On the Square” district. We depend heavily on small
business, arts and cultural entrepreneurs, entertainment, and tourists which all make our economy
strong and thriving.
Again, we welcome you to the City of Buena Vista. Hope to see you soon “On the Square”!
