Mobile Home Installation Inspection
PIERS
- Piers over 36 inches high must be double pier; in no case can the frame rest directly on concrete.
- Corner Piers over 24 inches high must be double pier, in no case can the frame rest directly on concrete.
- Shems can be no thicker than 1-1/2″.
- Cedar must be used.
- Caps:
- 2″ x 8″ x 16″ plate cap, or
- 4″ x 8″ Concrete Block
- Concrete Foundation minimum size: 16″ x 16″ x 4″ pads (ABS pad)
- Minimum Load: 1,000 pounds per square foot.
- Ground anchors driven full depth. 1.2 yards per anchor, concrete slab.
- For 4,275 Pound Load anchors:

- Amounts of Rebar and Wire Mesh

- 4′ Anchors/Special Stabilizer Device
- 4,000 pounds/3,150 pounds
Tork 175 to 265 inches per pound
4,000 pound anchors are in place
Force: 3,000 pound strike-down. - Check Proper Wind Zone
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Check State Installation Decal next to H.U.D. Label
- Check location and drainage; make sure no standing water exists under the mobile home.
- Check pier, pads, and supports for proper sizing and spacing.
- Check anchors for stamp on the head of the ground anchor.
- Check anchors for ground placement; they should be ground level, or full depth.
- Check electrical and plumbing and workmanship.
